007 First Light Story Summary — Full Spoilers

WARNING: This guide contains full story spoilers for 007 First Light. Stop here if you have not completed the game.

Act 1: Iceland and Recruitment

James Bond is a 26-year-old Royal Navy air crewman. During a mission in Iceland, his heroic actions catch the attention of MI6. He is recruited into the newly revived Double-0 program and assigned to training instructor John Greenway — who is openly skeptical that Bond is ready. Bond begins training alongside other recruits, learning stealth, gadgets, and combat from Q Branch and Moneypenny.

Act 2: The Webb Conspiracy Unfolds

Bond is deployed on his first real operations, investigating the disappearance of 009. The trail leads to Sir Nicholas Webb and his son Damien, who run Webb Industries. The Webbs have built HYPERION — a quantum computer designed to corrupt British intelligence. Sir Nicholas Webb blackmails M by threatening to leak MI6 secrets. Bond refuses to accept this, and Webb orders mercenaries to eliminate him and Greenway.

Act 3: Mauritania — Greenway Falls

Bond and Greenway track Damien to Mauritania. During the confrontation, Greenway is killed — the first major personal loss of Bond's career. Damien escapes. Bond's investigation intensifies, and the scale of the Webb conspiracy becomes clear. Bond teams up with Charlotte Roth, a French DGSE operative (or so she claims) also hunting 009.

Act 4: Antarctica and the HYPERION Confrontation

Bond and Roth infiltrate Webb's Antarctic R&D facility. Roth kills Nicholas Webb herself and attempts to flee with THEIA — the parent quantum core of HYPERION. Bond catches her, THEIA is destroyed, and the facility begins to collapse. Damien arrives with reinforcements and Bond pursues him through the facility.

The Final Confrontation

Bond drags Damien into a pool of water. His exo-suit shorts out, and Damien drowns. Bond nearly drowns but is rescued by Charlotte Roth — who reveals herself as "Isola." She takes THEIA's core, kisses Bond, and escapes. Her final words confirm she is not French intelligence. She works for a foreign client (strongly implied to be SPECTRE), and THEIA was the prize.

The Ending — Bond Becomes 007

Bond returns to London and visits Greenway's grave. M formally offers him a place in the 00 program with the 001 designation. Bond declines and asks for 007. The classic Bond theme plays. A black screen shows "JAMES BOND WILL RETURN."

What THEIA and SPECTRE Mean for the Sequel

THEIA is loose. The organization Isola works for is unnamed but strongly implied to be SPECTRE. IO Interactive has confirmed a sequel is planned. Everything — the Webbs, HYPERION, Isola's client — points toward a larger conspiracy that will define the next Bond chapter.
