What Is Q-Lens?

Q-Lens is your primary reconnaissance tool in 007 First Light. It is permanently equipped — you cannot unequip it. Hold the activation button (L1 on PlayStation, LB on Xbox, Alt on PC) to activate it at any time. When active, Q-Lens reveals the world in a wireframe overlay that highlights enemies, devices, and interactable objects through walls and ceilings.

Q-Lens Displays

Enemy markers:

  • Yellow dots — standard guards in patrol or idle
  • Orange/yellow outline — guard facing your direction
  • Red outline — guard in alert state or combat
  • White dot — Watcher (Observer type, cannot be bluffed)
  • Blue outline — civilian or non-hostile NPC

Object highlights:

  • Glowing outlines — doors, terminals, and hackable devices
  • Yellow shimmer — collectibles within range
  • Electrical icons — battery recharge points
  • Red icons — alarm triggers and security systems

Battery Drain and Optimal Usage

Q-Lens is the single largest battery consumer in the game. Leaving it active while moving through areas wastes precious power when you will need it most. The optimal scanning pattern: activate Q-Lens in cover, study patrol routes and enemy positions, deactivate, plan your route, then move. Reactivate only when reaching the next cover position.

Collectible Detection

Q-Lens highlights nearby collectibles in bright yellow. This feature unlocks in Chapter 4 when you receive the Q-Watch. The highlight appears on all five collectible types: Playing Cards, Intel, Mementos, Postcards, and Legacy Items. Use this to sweep rooms methodically before moving on.

In dense indoor environments (hotels, museums, offices), scan at doorways before entering. A 2-second Q-Lens activation at each room entrance tells you exactly what is inside without risking detection.
