The Three Core Stealth Actions
007 First Light centers its stealth system on three primary actions: Bluff, Lure, and Takedown. Each has specific use cases, resource costs, and success conditions. Mastering when to use each action completely transforms how missions play out.
Bluffing Guards — The Most Powerful Social Stealth Tool
Bluffing lets you talk your way past guards when you are spotted or trespassing in restricted areas. When the interaction prompt appears, press the Bluff button to trigger a convincing lie that forces the guard to back down.
Typical bluff scenarios:
- Entering restricted rooms without proper credentials
- Passing checkpoints with suspicious timing
- Accessing staff-only zones
- Impersonating professionals
- Distracting suspicious NPCs mid-conversation
Bluffing consumes Instinct points — this is the main reason players underuse it. Once your Instinct meter is empty, bluffing becomes unavailable until you earn more by performing takedowns or eavesdropping on conversations.
Bluffing is temporary. An X icon appears above the NPC's head, indicating the effect is wearing off. If you linger too long in the area, they realize they have been played. Leave immediately after a successful bluff.
The Watcher System — Do Not Attempt to Bluff
Watchers are elite security personnel identified by a white dot above their heads. They are entirely immune to bluffing — attempting to lie to them instantly triggers the alarm. Watchers wear the same disguise as regular guards, so look for the white dot marker to distinguish them.
Always scan guards with Q-Lens before attempting any social interaction. If Q-Lens shows "Observer" tag, social stealth and bluffing are useless — bypass or eliminate that guard silently.
Luring Enemies — For Separating Guards
Luring uses gadgets, hacked electronics, environmental distractions, and Dart Phone effects to separate enemies from their groups. Simply look at the target and press the Lure button — Bond calls out, and the enemy often comes to investigate.
Best lure strategies:
- Dart Phone fires toxin darts that force guards to leave positions
- Q-Watch hacking triggers alarms that draw guards away
- Environmental distractions (breaking glass, moving objects)
- After luring, perform a Takedown before they return
Takedowns — Your Primary Stealth Elimination
Takedowns are the most common stealth tactic. During stealth sections, use them on isolated targets outside other enemies' lines of sight.
Takedown execution methods:
- Approach from behind (crouched) and press Takedown when close
- Cover Takedown: use low cover, wait for the prompt to appear
- Elevated Takedown: approach a ledge above an enemy and press Takedown
- After luring an enemy, perform a takedown before they return to their post
Disguise System
Pick up hats and uniforms throughout environments to disguise yourself. Simply wearing the correct hat lets you stroll through heavily fortified areas without raising suspicion. The disguise is only half the battle — walk confidently and avoid lingering in areas where your cover story would be out of place.
Instinct Management
The Instinct meter serves as both a detection tool and a social manipulation resource. You earn Instinct by performing takedowns, eliminating enemies in combat, and eavesdropping on conversations. You spend Instinct on bluffs and lures. The cycle creates a sustainable loop: play well → earn Instinct → use it to play better.
Eavesdrop on NPC conversations before attempting bluffs. Intel gathered this way provides conversation topics that make your lies more convincing and increase bluff success rates.
Reinforcement Prevention
Guards with yellow antenna icons above their heads are attempting to call for reinforcements. Neutralize them immediately — either with a silent takedown or a quick shot — before the transmission completes. The Q-Lens highlights these guards clearly. Disabling radios mid-call is one of the most important stealth skills in the game.
